Your settings, your school portal login and signing in

The short answer

You sign in at onpracticum.com with your email and password, and if you forget the password, Forgot password? emails you a link to set a new one that works once, for one hour. In Settings you update your details, your program and your password, then select Save changes. Settings also holds your school portal login, so the team can work on your clinical application with you, and once saved it shows as a table with the password hidden until you select Reveal.

Your details and your program

Open the Settings tab to keep your account current. The first two cards hold what you entered when you created your account, and you can change any line at any time:

CardLineWhat it is for
Your detailsFull nameYour name as it appears at the top of your portal.
Your detailsEmailYour personal email, where you are reached.
Your detailsMobileYour phone number, for your placement manager and time-sensitive updates.
Your detailsNew passwordA new password, or leave it blank to keep yours.
Your programSchoolThe school you are enrolled at.
Your programProgramYour degree and specialty.
Your programState for your hoursThe state where you need to complete your clinical hours.
Your programZIP codeThe five-digit ZIP code of the area where you need your hours.

Saving your changes and changing your password

When you have made your changes, select Save changes under the two cards. A Saved mark appears beside the button, and your portal shows the new details straight away. If something needs fixing, such as a ZIP code that isn’t five digits, a short message tells you what to change.

To change your password while you are signed in, type a new one in New password and select Save changes. It needs at least 8 characters, with a number or symbol. Leave the box blank and your password stays as it is, so you can update your phone or program without touching it.

Your school portal login

Below your details, the Portal credentials card asks for the login to your school portal, so the team can work on your clinical application with you. Your Overview lists Add your school portal login as one of your next steps, and it shows as done once you have saved it.

LineWhat to enter
Portal URLThe web address where you sign in to your school portal.
UsernameThe username you use on your school portal.
PasswordThe password you use on your school portal.
StateThe state, chosen from the list. It starts with the state for your hours.
CityThe city, typed in.
This portal sends a one-time code (2-step verification)Tick it if your school portal sends you a code when you sign in.

One-time codes

Many school portals send a one-time code by text, email or an app each time someone signs in, often called 2-step verification. If yours does, tick This portal sends a one-time code before you save, and your saved login shows Yes, the portal sends a code.

When the team needs to sign in to work on your clinical application, they ask you for the code at that moment. Keep your phone close, and share the code when you are asked, because one-time codes only work for a short time.

Reveal, Edit and keeping it current

Once saved, your school portal login shows as a table: Portal URL, Username, Password, One-time code, State and City. The password shows as dots. Select Reveal beside it to see it yourself, and Hide to cover it again.

Select Edit at the top of the card to change any line. The password box reads Saved. Leave blank to keep it, so you only type a password when it has changed. Select Update credentials to save, or Cancel to keep what you had. If your school asks you to change your portal password, update it here the same day, so your clinical application keeps moving.

Signing out

Sign out sits at the top right of your portal, beside your name and your school and program. Select it when you finish, especially on a shared computer, and you return to the sign-in card. Next time, sign in with your email and password, and your portal opens on the Overview, with everything as you left it.
